Join us as we round out 2024 with a Virtual Beer Tasting Event! Back by popular demand, spend the evening with PCS as we taste seasonal brews from Grist House Craft Brewery in Millvale and share updates on sarcoma research and awareness. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
How will this work? An EVENT ticket to attend will include four craft beers (enough for two to taste) from Grist House Craft Brewery, koozie, wristbands and snacks.
Volunteers will DELIVER event kits to your home within 20 miles of downtown Pittsburgh. Anyone living outside of the delivery area can choose the SHIPPING option. We can only ship to addresses in Pennsylvania. We will arrange to deliver beer to Erie, PA, and West Virginia University. If you live outside of the shipping area, please contact us at info@pghcuresarcoma.org to see if we can make arrangements to get beer to your area.
Store your beer in the refrigerator until event night! Then sit back in the comfort of your own home and join via Zoom for the VIRTUAL Beer Tasting, PCS updates and survivor stories. You will receive the Zoom link in the week prior to the event.
All proceeds benefit sarcoma awareness and life-saving research. It’s a fun evening to support a great cause!
If you are unable to attend but would like to support our fundraising efforts, we welcome your donations.

Why support Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma?
Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma has proudly granted over $2,268,050 to support sarcoma research since our inception in 2011, and we are the first volunteer-led organization to do so. The funds we grant store precious sarcoma tissue resources and enable researchers to perform life-saving studies. Here is a list of the projects that are funded due to the dedication and generosity of our supporters:
Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma Research Grants
$50,000 - Dr. Kurt Weiss - Musculoskeletal Oncology Laboratory in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine to support the maintenance of the tumor registry and sarcoma tissue bank. This lab supplies research material to all of the Pittsburgh sarcoma researchers and beyond.

The Brewery
ONE FAMILY. ONE COMPLETELY INSANE DREAM.
Family owned and operated since 2014, Grist House Craft Brewery has become a Pittsburgh craft beer staple. Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, co-owners and brother-in-laws, Brian Eaton and Kyle Mientkiewicz, moved to Pittsburgh in 2010 and began homebrewing on weekends together. After many experiments, tweaking, taste testing and with the support of friends and family they decided to leave their day jobs to open Grist House.
There have been many changes at Grist House but we have always strived to bring the best quality craft beer to the folks of Western PA. Along with great beer, Grist House also sets out to offer a fun and unique experience, both indoors and out! This is a place where drinking buddies become lifelong friends, and regulars become family.
The Host
Dr. Weiss was diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma at the age of 15 and attributes his survival to participation in a Phase II clinical trial. He went on to attend the University of Notre Dame and Jefferson Medical College.
Dr. Weiss then performed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and his fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at the University of Toronto. He was recruited back to the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 as a surgeon/scientist and has over 60 peer-reviewed publications in the musculoskeletal oncology literature.
Dr. Weiss is a founding member of Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma and one of only a handful of surgeons who specialize in sarcoma. Dr. Weiss is also one of the very few physician-scientists searching for a cure for this disease, and the only one who is also a former sarcoma patient. Part of the orthopaedic surgery team at UPMC, he still spends at least two days in the lab, studying the science behind the disease and looking for the answer that will stop it for good.
It's very difficult to find funding for rare cancers like sarcoma that don’t attract as much federal research dollars and private investment. Our efforts ensure novel ideas are funded - those that could lead to the next big breakthrough for sarcoma treatment!
